Why you should be using Google Chromecast

By: Nick Santini  |   June 25th, 2014

Let's face it, most people use services like Netflix, Hulu, and other on-demand video streaming services. I'm here to tell you that if you have been using anything other than Google's Chromecast for your streaming then you've been doing it all wrong!

"But wait... I have a Roku," you say. To that I say, "The struggle is real and I feel for you."

Why Chromecast is the only way to go

There are tons of devices on the market for video and music streaming. This is why it seems so hard to choose the right device for you, right?

Wrong!

The Chromecast is the top choice for nearly everybody. Unless of course you have a soft spot for Roku... Priced at an extremely reasonable $35.00, there is no reason why every Netflix user shouldn't be using one. What truly makes this product amazing are it's features.

Features

Much like a thumb drive, the chromecast is similar in dimensions the only difference is that it uses HDMI instead of USB. This will probably be the only setback some users may have. But let's face it, if your television doesn't have an HDMI port, do us all a favor and upgrade.

Speaking of TVs, what is a TV without a remote control? As it turns out, you’re Android or Apple device is your remote control! That's right, you can play, stop, pause, fast forward, and rewind all from your smartphone or tablet.

Chromecast's future

All new features were released at the Google I/O developers conference. Google's TV products team leader Rishi Chandra was sure to demonstrate the many new features to come. These features include, casting applications like Google Earth, Casting video live straight from your devices camera, and even more. Chandra stated:

Everything on your phone will now show up on your TV.

Updates to the streaming device are expected to arrive later this year.

How does TLK SHOW feel about it?

As if it wasn't already extremely obvious, we love the product. I personally use my Chromecast almost every day. The reason I have negative opinions about devices like the Roku is because that's what I used to use. From experiencing both products I can honestly say that the Chromecast is way easier to use.

Again, for a measly $35.00, I highly recommend purchasing the small but awesome streaming media stick that is the Chromecast.
